Management Team Atul Thakrar, President and Chief Executive Officer Atul Thakrar With over 20 years of strategic and operational experience in the specialty chemicals and energy sectors, Atul Thakrar leads the Segetis team as President and Chief Executive Officer. Thakrar came to Segetis from Soane Energy, a Boston-based specialty materials startup, where he was President and Chief Operating Officer from 2007 to 2009. Prior to Soane, Thakrar held positions of increasing responsibility at Cytec Industries and Rohm and Haas, including global business unit leadership for both organizations. At Cytec from 2003 through 2006, Thakrar served as Vice President, first building the Coatings and Specialty Additives Business Unit and then leading the $760+ million Liquid Coatings and Resins business while stationed in Brussels. Thakrar was previously with Rohm & Haas for 15 years, serving in such diverse capacities as Business Director, Greater China for Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants, and Managing Director, Country Manager + India. Thakrar holds a BSc in applied chemistry from University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada) and an MBA from Ivey Business School (London, Ontario).
Snehal Desai With more than 21 years of progressive leadership experience in the plastics, chemicals and renewable materials industries, Desai leads all aspects of commercial and business development for Segetis. Prior to joining Segetis in June 2008, he was vice president and chief marketing officer of NatureWorks LLC, the first company to offer a family of commercially available low-carbon-footprint polymers. In this role, Desai led strategic development and global execution of the marketing, sales and development teams for the company during an explosive growth period from 2003 to 2008. Previously with The Dow Chemical Company, Desai held various positions in sales, marketing, business development and TS&D in the Specialty Chemicals, Plastics, E-Business and New Business Growth divisions. Desai is a founding member and past Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee member of the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals (A.S.A.P.), and has held a variety of leadership positions there since 1998. Desai received bachelor's degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Cora Leibig Prior to joining Segetis, Leibig had more than a decade of product research and development experience at Dow Chemical. Leibig has developed an extensive track record for blending business acumen and market input with a technical team firmly grounded in scientific principles to rapidly invent and develop products with strong market acceptance worldwide. Leibig studied polymer physics and dynamics as a Hertz Fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she received her Ph.D. in chemical engineering. Leibig also has a master's degree in chemical engineering practice and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
